Breaking The Rules
Ever feel like you’re living someone else’s life instead of your own? Yeah… me too. I’ve spent way too long following the script, doing what I was “supposed” to do, and slowly forgetting what I actually wanted. It’s time to change that.
Yup, I did it. No backup plan. No new job offer. Nothing. Just a 30 year old girl who finally had enough and decided it was time to take life by the balls and rewrite the script.
Here’s the thing, we are the only ones who can change our lives. If we don’t like something, we have to do something about it. Easier said than done, obviously. But so often, we cling to jobs, relationships, or friendships that no longer serve us because the unknown feels scarier than staying stuck.
We get comfortable in situations that slowly drain us. But in order to grow, we have to shed the bad, the lingering negativity, the things holding us back. Kick that energy to the curb. That’s when real change happens.
We can’t expect our lives to transform if we’re stuck repeating the same cycle. Isn’t that what they call insanity?
Now, let’s talk about society for a second. From the very beginning, we’re taught to follow one path:
Daycare. School. High school. University. Get a job. Work your way up. Never quit because then you’ll “start over.” Don’t take vacations, because god forbid you breathe for a second. Get married. Have kids immediately after the wedding because who are you to actually enjoy your marriage first?
Then the babies come. Your life becomes about everyone else. Your job, your marriage, your kids, you start to disappear. And before you know it, you blink and realize you’ve been living the same routine for years.
Sure, your life wasn’t “bad.” But was it yours?
So yeah… I’m saying eff that. Eff the life we’re “supposed” to live. Do things for you. Do what makes you happy. Fill your own cup. Be selfish in the best way. You deserve to feel fulfilled.
The unknown is scary, but so is living a life that doesn’t feel authentically yours. Life’s too short to live on autopilot. So here’s to change, chaos, and choosing you.
